Meeting Between the Chinese Community and the NDP Provincial Candidate in Surrey South

With the BC provincial election approaching on October 19, we hope these two meet-and-greet events will help the White Rock South Surrey Chinese community gain a better understanding of the provincial candidates. The second event, featuring the Conservative candidate, is scheduled for October 9.

About the event

On Tuesday, October 1, from 10 AM to 12 PM, NDP candidate for the South Surrey riding, Haroon Ghaffar, engaged in a warm discussion with nearly 50 residents from the Chinese community at the South Surrey Community Centre.

Haroon Ghaffar began by sharing his background: he is an immigrant from Pakistan with diverse work experience, including roles as a journalist and a media communications officer in government. As a Surrey resident himself, he has a firsthand understanding of the issues that concern the community.

He then introduced some of the NDP's core policies and discussed topics of particular interest to the Chinese community, including public safety, drug issues, transportation, employment, immigration, housing, and resource shortages.
